Sometimes God answers, “No” to our desperate prayers. We need to remember that God’s true purpose in answering our prayers is “that your joy may be full” (John 16:23, 24). The Prodigal Son sought his freedom from what he perceived was an obstinate, arrogant, overbearing father. Look at what he could not see? He could not see that God really does watch over us. Remember when He said to Noah that when Noah saw the Rainbow He also could see it?
